Fisheries Business Assistance Contract
The Alaska Business Development Center is currently under contract with the Alaska Division of Investments to provide consulting services under the Fisheries Business Assistance Contract. ABDC has provided these services and similar services for the Division, in various forms, for over twenty-five years.
Business counseling services are provided to Harvesters and other participants or potential participants in the Alaska fishing industry; new and existing fishing industry small businesses, as well as, small businesses that service the commercial fishing industry; Community Development Quota (CDQ) groups in Western Alaska; and Community Quota Entity (CQE) organizations. Assistance is provided to individuals in a hands-on format, with consultants working directly with harvesters. Additionally, ABDC provides outreach technical assistance and workshops on business related topics in rural communities across the state. ABDC also assists harvesters in maintaining compliance with the IRS and resolving controversial IRS issues; to help prevent the loss of fishing assets and to assist with the expansion of their operations through qualifying for commercial fishing loans.
