The Alaska Business Development Center provides tax preparation services to low-to moderate income taxpayers and taxpayers age 60 and over through the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Taxpayer Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. ABDC’s primary focus is on Rural Alaska taxpayers.
ABDC’s Volunteer Tax & Loan Program provides tax preparation services free of charge to qualifying individual taxpayers in partner communities. The communities selected to receive this service are determined by regional and local financial support.
Tax preparation is provided to selected communities through outreach efforts as well as through ABDC’s Mail-in Site. Outreach services are delivered by teams of trained volunteers who travel to rural communities to prepare tax returns on-site. Mail-in services are provided to those individuals who missed the team while it was in their community and taxpayers living in supported communities that were not visited by a traveling team. Taxpayers from supported communities submit their information into ABDC’s Anchorage office where their return is prepared.
