The Alaska Business Development Center provides education regarding taxpayer rights and responsibilities to low income and English-as-a-second-language taxpayers through the IRS’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC).
ABDC’s educational topics are designed in a user-friendly format and cover topics pertinent to life in rural Alaska. Most educations are delivered by VTLP volunteers while in the communities, in a one-on-one format, providing the taxpayer a sense of privacy to ask pertinent questions about their particular tax situation.
Specific tax educations that are available include the following:
- Understanding…Dependent Laws • Understanding…Estimated Tax Payments • Understanding…Form 1040 • Understanding…Income Forms • Understanding…Injured Spouse • Understanding…IRS Debt • Understanding…IRS Notices • Understanding…Withholding
Education on other topics such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and filing status can be received through the Anchorage office.
